I have a question for you guys today.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of making the strip occasionally more up-to-date in terms of hitting some current affairs, news stories that are of the moment, things like that. Obviously the tone is still gonna be aimed at the funny (hey, I AIM at the funny… sometimes I miss… but the aim is there), but maybe pull something from yesterday’s news. Since I work the strip very close to the release date, I could make that happen fairly easily.
So what’s your opinion? Should I? Should I steer away from that stuff? What do you think?
Next check out an interview and an extensive sneak peak at the start of the book, that I did with m’ colleague from Luci Phurr’s Imps (among other things) about our new book MISSING LINX.
All humanity has seen of them are blurry photos and secondhand accounts — until now. This April, Viper Comics brings the missing links of humanity to comics in an original graphic novel as the “Missing Linx,” the world’s newest premiere super-team. Together, Bigfoot, Yeti, Sasquatch and Skunk Ape fight off mythical creatures from other dimensions while thwarting the nefarious schemes of the evil Dr. Erasmus Q. Bedfellow, who seeks to destroy the world for his own personal gain. Along the way, the Linx encounter a human family — a father and his two teenage sons — who aid the team in their quest to defeat Bedfellow and restore order to the planet. ML looks like it’s gonna be awesome.
For the current events – it depends. I wince at the thought of another person doing the whole ‘Charlie Sheen’ story. But I think something that was topical and not too heavy handed could be alot of fun. Basically – yes, with discretion.
I’d say go for it, but it’d be a good idea to stay away from political topics. Could lose a lot of readers
Charlie Sheen… nah. It’s somewhat a case of the ‘low hanging fruit.’ But really, it’s just sad… and not in a “Pfft! Sad.” kinda way where you’re mocking… it’s really sad.
That’s kind of the way I see it too, Dale.
Current events are a tricky buisness but can be very funny if done right tho if you set it up in an alterinate universe or so somthing like that your the captain of this ship sir steer it where you want i’ll be here regardless
I read webcomics to get away from the everyday. Bringing in current events would really ruin the comic for me. And I have been enjoying it quite a bit.

Thanks for the comments, y’all. Any lurkers are also welcome to chime in.
*pauses in the making of another peanut butter pickle sandwich* …Politics…never has a word been so apt in its definition… *goes back to making sandwich*
@Sicarius – Are we talking about the definition in the Devil’s Dictionary?
“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies.”
–Groucho Marx
My only opinion on politics. Often quoted. Just as often misquoted.
